Welcome
I am a physiological ecologist and work on problems related to energetics, body size, and thermoregulation in marine and terrestrial mammals. My primary work currently is in science education. I am actively working with the HHMI funded initiative at U.C. Santa Cruz to incorporate active learning and evidence-based teaching methods into undergraduate education. I also manage the Long Marine Lab Stranding Program. Students in my lab work on projects related to marine mammal strandings or using samples collected from stranded animals. Interested in joining our stranding program or doing a project? Read more about how to volunteer here.
